Improve employee experience for your team.
There are many posts on Single Sign-On (SSO) the technology concept – this post focusses on the significance of enabling SSO in Cisco Webex Control Hub for accessing Webex services (including Webex Teams, Webex Meetings, Webex Calling and Webex Contact Center).
Webex Identity Synchronisation with an Identity Provider, using either the on-premises based Directory Connector or cloud-based Azure/Okta provisioning, only synchronises user data – not the authentication credentials. As a result, the user must maintain multiple credentials across different applications – leading to poor user experience.
Security policies such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), password complexity, account lock-out and other controls set by the enterprise are also not applied during the default Webex Authentication. In addition, once onboarded in Webex Control Hub, the newly synchronised users receive an email invitation from Cisco. Often Enterprises will prefer to control and send their own branded communication at an appropriate time instead of the immediate welcome email sent by Cisco.
Enabling SSO in Webex Control Hub for Webex Services solves these challenges by ensuring Webex authentication is linked back to the enterprise identity provider, such as Active Directory, Azure or Okta.
